I developed, researched and designed the Workshop Design Toolkit for USC's New Media for Social Change program. Through an 8-monthlong collaboration with the course's professors, I produced an interactive toolkit for students to design workshops for nonprofits in Los Angeles. This final toolkit is available to all students in the Media Arts and Participatory Politics program, and is integrated into the curriculum of all future versions of this course, beginning Fall 2015.
In the class New Media for Social Change, students research, design, and prototype workshops for Los Angeles non-profit organizations. After having taken the course, I identified several problems within the earlier design stages of each workshop, specifically how students received feedback and the implementation of complete workshops with the non-profit organizations. This toolkit provides activities and guidelines for the student groups throughout the semester.
